Santuario dos Espíritos – A Garden Where Time, Nature & Design Meet
Welcome to Santuario dos Espíritos a garden sanctuary rooted in history and guided by modern intention. This project embraces a centennial home, honoring its age, its stories, and the spirit already living in the land.
Rather than clearing the slate, the design leans into what was already there: mature trees, established plants, and a sense of quiet permanence then layers in a refined, contemporary flair. The front garden unfolds with ceremony.
A long driveway draws you inward, flanked by thoughtful landscaping and a calming water feature. A raised patio overlooks the approach, offering a moment to pause, breathe, and take it all in before reaching the carport. It’s formal, but never stiff structured, yet alive. And then… the backyard.
This is where the magic truly happens. Existing trees were preserved and celebrated, with a few carefully chosen additions to deepen shade and texture. The back fence and gate were upgraded to frame sweeping views of the forest beyond.
A former chicken coop area was transformed into a rustic seating nook now a place to sit, sip, and stare into the green distance like a philosopher with dirt under their nails.
A long raised garden bed anchors the space, filled with low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly plants that hum with life. The overall mood is rustic Mediterranean sun-warmed textures, earthy tones, and a garden that feels both cultivated and wonderfully wild.
This is not a garden that shouts. It whispers. And if you listen closely, it tells stories.
If you love gardens that respect the past while stepping confidently into the future, this one’s for you.
